Data Science Facilitator/HPC System Support Specialist, part time

Develops training materials for faculty and students regarding managing jobs in the High Performance Computing (HPC) system; collaborates with faculty and students to understand their scientific tasks and identify computing requirements; advises faculty, staff, and students on how to organize, prepare, and obtain data sets for analysis; provides guidance on the use of techniques such as data visualization, statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining to answer research questions; assists and trains faculty in composing and assembling reproducible workflows and protocols; and assists researchers with job requests, environment, execution, and troubleshooting.
Ability to interact with students and faculty to facilitate their use of the HPC system; experience with Linux based clustered computing environments such as RedHat and Rocky Linux; proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python) and at least one of the following: R, C, C++, Perl, or Java required. Student experience will be considered.

We seek a Data Science Facilitatior/HPC System Support Specialist to provide support for faculty, students, and staff in the use of the high-performance data cluster for data science projects. The support specialist will provide training and facilitation in the use of the HPC system for research and teaching. This is a part-time position funded by a state-wide EPSCoR grant.
